Task 1 - 3 sectors of the film industry

The film industry has many core businesses when making feature films that are designed too appear in the cinema. Some of them include: Distribution, Production and Exhibition.

Films in the 1890’s started silent until the early 1930’s when eventually colour came in but only from the late 1930’s.

By the time it came too the 1980’s they began to bring in the multiplex cinemas. The cinema is a unique experience because you have a big screen that you wish you had at home to watch films on. The sound system is amazing because wherever you sit in the cinema if its at the back the front or the middle you will still get the best of the surround sound. You can also meet new people if you wanted to because if you sit in the cinema you get to hear other people’s expression of the film if it’s screams, laughter or no noise. That means they are enjoying the film whatever noise they are making. At the moment film directors are sending their films into 3D. Now, 3D entertainment is a wonderful experience because if you have heard of the film called Monsters vs. Aliens then they have put that film into 2D and 3D. If you see a 3D film then what it does is that it makes the picture look like its coming out at you. You also have to wear these special glasses so it makes the experience more memorable.

There are other media forms to distribute films. You mainly see films being advertised on t.v broadcasts, DVDs, Internet downloads and Mobile phone downloads. Most people enjoy seeing trailers for new films because it gets them exited and makes them want to see it more. If you see a good trailer then the cinemas are more likely to get more customers. Also the producers and distributors will obviously get paid a good sum of money if they send out a good advertising campaign for the film.

The television industry is the best way to get points across because whatever the time or day it is there will always be someone watching or even listening to it. In television, There are many channels to choose from. At the moment alot of people has either got sky, sky + or virgin media. Alot of people are having to get new televisions with digital being put on it. Television through the years has changed so much. When the television first came into the country in 1926, it was black and white and maybe some sound. As the years went by, television got more and more hi-tech. It then came into colour in the late 1960's. Then came three channels that didn't come in until the 1980's. Now the main things we want on our televisions to have digital but that didn't come in until the 2000's .                                   The first television broadcast was a tester and it was called 'Late Night Line-Up'. With television, There have been memorable events happen on TV like: The Queens Coronation, The national TV awards, X Factor, Britain's got talent, Big brother and many more. I believe that the long lasting comedy series of TV has to be 'Only fools and horses' and i believe that they have made a spin off episode called 'Rock and Chips' showing when Del boy was younger and when Rodney was just born. There have been many memorable laughter's that i have with my parents when i watch it. There have been many recent things like: Gavin and Stacey, A new version of only fools and horses, Take me out, Glee and many more. Television has made every ones lives better, especially when it comes to advertising films for the cinema, new DVDs and Cd's. The BBC is the most well known company as its been round for ages as it started in Alexandra Palace with the BBC tower. Granada is based on ITV.

There is also another industry that everybody loves, the music industry. Its core business is making programmes that are designed to be heard in the home on radio. Pop music started in the 1700's with sheet music and the popular music hall songs. The gramophone was invented by Thomas Edison in the 1890's. The radio was invented by Marconi in the early 1900's. The sales of records became popular in the 1930's, then the LP was invented in the 1950's. The CD was then invented in the 1980's and the radio came in the 2000's. The unique experience about radio and music is that you can listen to it any where you go like in the car or whilst you are at home. Its very accessible and you can listen to it with loud speaker or with head phones. Its also very cheap, easy to use and digital brings a vast choice.                         Music programmes also distribute music on other media platforms. You have iPods, iTunes, illegal downloads, radio, MP3, Video, CD's, MP4, Video cassette, TV channels, stereo and juke boxes. There are many major companies that distribute music. Some of them are like the BBC, MTV, Magic, Heart, Capital, Sony and Kiss 100. In Britain, the way we distribute music round the country is much more better than America because on english websites we don't have illegal download sites, but on American websites they do.
